Biological chracteristics of Vibrio vulnificus

Abstract
|
|
|
1. Ten strains of Vibrio vulnificus were isolated from 1982 to 1985 in summer season at Won Kwang Medical Center.
2. The shapes of Vibrio vulnificus were variable from short to irregular curved, spiral and long bacilli on simple Basic Fuchsin Stain method.
3. There were able to grow at 0.28% of NaCl concentration after 3 hrs of culture and pH 412 with ionic reqirements.
4. V. vulnificus showed strong hemolysis activity, easily inactivated by addtion of higher temperature.
5. All of V. vulnificus was susceptible to chloramphenicol, tetracycline, carbenicillin, erythro-mycin and rifampicin.
6. All of the patients was died due to septic shock.
